An online space filled with detailed skincare, makeup, fragrance, spa, hair care and health product reviews from a South African Beauty Editor.

Ever since leaving the world of 9-5, I’ve been working closely with various local and international brands to create content, establish and grow their social media audience and advise them on how to build a strong, reliable online presence. I also do a lot of photography, consulting, public relations, styling and freelance writing in between.

On my site, I’ll be sharing my favourite beauty finds, tips and reviews. They’re authentic, honest and relatable thoughts.

Welcome to my happy space!

I’m so grateful that it’s 2023. Don’t get me wrong, 2022 was full of personal triumph but I was ready to bid it farewell. Instead of creating a resolutions list of things I’d like to quit or cut out, I decided to create a more of list. The activities below feed my soul. So, without further ado, in 2023, I’d like more…

GETTING MY DREAM WEDDING SKIN WITH DR. NERINA WILKINSON + ASSOCIATES

For most brides-to-be, having the perfect dress is the number one priority on her list. For me, it’s glowing skin.

Above: Kate Spade New York Sparkle EDP Intense

From the moment I picked up the bottle, I knew I’d love Kate Spade’s Sparkle EDP.

The first spritz always tells it all. I have a thing for peppery, powdery scents and like I suspected, this gem possessed those very notes. Blackcurrant and pink pepper make up the initial top notes of this EDP, followed by middle notes of peony and hawthorn. Once it settles throughout the day, you’ll be lusting after decadent desserts but that’s only because the base notes of Sparkle are vanilla, creme brûlée and cedar. ⁣

Delicious, right? 💙⁣

And here are the 5 fragrance tips that I swear by, in no particular order.

1. Store your scents in a cool, dark space that has no direct sunlight. I have a shelf within a cupboard dedicated to my fragrances which is free from any form of moisture, dampness and is always cold. ⁣

2. Avoid shaking your fragrance bottle as air can infuse with the perfume and shorten its lifespan.⁣

3. When properly testing out a scent, spray it on your skin (inner wrists are usually the best areas — remember, don’t rub them together as this can distort the notes). Don’t judge a scent based on a testing strip. ⁣

4. Spritzing perfume directly onto your hair could potentially make the hair dry, so instead, spray your favourite scent onto your brush before running it through your locks. ⁣

5. Never be afraid to experiment with something new. If you’re usually a fan of green, fresh notes, try something woody. If soft florals are more your thing, opt for a citrus scent. I’ve started trying out new fragrance categories and I’m loving the change.
